5 Tips for helping baby learn their days & nights

You’ve heard the expression party all night, sleep all day, right? Well that’s all fun and games UNTIL you have a baby. It is common for baby to have their days and nights confused during the first few weeks of their life. Here are some tips to turn that around:

GET SOME SUN

+Take care of baby in the sunshine! Open up your blinds during the day and let them nap in a sunny spot.

STRUCTURE YOUR DAY

+Keep daytime naps to 2-2.5 hours max

WARM LIGHT

+Keep night feeds dark! Use a salt lamp or an easy tap/on tap/off light to see in the middle of the night.

BEDTIME ROUTINE

+Start a simple bedtime routine-think bath, feed, book, lights off/sound machine on, swaddle, goodnight!

Building structure for a little being who doesn’t have a set schedule doesn’t have to be impossible! Giving yourself gentle guidelines to try to follow and being flexible when things don’t go as planned can make the process of building natural rhythms for you and your baby easier.
