7 Baby Bath Time Tips

I recently got off the phone with a client who asked me, “Will my baby ever like the bath?”

The answer is…maybe yes, maybe no!

Here are some helpful tips to up your chances of a peaceful bath time:

+Lower the lights, make the bathroom feel cozy!

+ Try an evening bath, or one right after a feed

+Make sure their bath container is soft- think soft sponge or a collapsible sink tub like the one pictured above

+Take note of the temperature of the water-it should be lukewarm and not cold

+Submerge your baby in the water the whole time or make sure a warm wash cloth is covering your baby’s body the entire bath

+Pop their towel in the dryer to have it ready for when bath time is done

+Dry baby on their belly

Just like with any other aspect of daily care for your family, finding a routine can bring comfort, familiarity and understanding of what’s going on. If you choose a bath as part of the bed time routine, that will become a familiar cadence for your little one and they’ll learn that the warm clean feeling is a nice way to go to sleep.
